photo ornament tutorial

I made this ornament as a gift for my holiday mini session client! Here’s a tutorial if you’d like to make any for easy last minute little gifts.

Gather supplies!

  • spray adhesive or modge podge
  • glue gun
  • 3 x 3 inch canvas (found mine at Joann Fabrics)
  • eye hook
  • photo for the front and an optional image for the back
  • 3/8th inch ribbon – this was a perfect match to the edge of the canvas

First, mark the center of the top of the canvas and screw in the eye hook to make it easier to screw in after the ribbon is glued on the sides. Take out the eye hook for the next steps.

Use spray adhesive to attach the front and back images. You could also use modge podge or another adhesive of your choice. Then use hot glue to adhere the ribbon tightly around the edges of the canvas.

Reinsert the eye hook and and add ribbon to the hook for hanging. I also used a little cut out of kraft cardstock to add the year and attached that with bakery twine.

Here is the finished ornament front and back!
