I am a child of God, wife, mama to a baby girl, kitty mama, daughter, sister, and artist. I love to make photos, sew, craft, make and eat good food, vintage suitcases (especially yellow ones), shopping at thrift stores, and designing. I like things simple. I live in Milwaukee, but I dream of living away from it all in an old farmhouse with a barn on lots of land with a group of lady ducks (that have old granny names) foraging in the yard.
My fantastic and oh so supportive and patient husband, Scott, is a teacher and loves woodworking and reading. Sometimes he tags along at my photoshoots. He’s great at being silly to make people laugh!
I became a mother in June of 2014 to my little Lillian. Oh how I adore this precious baby girl! Her smiles and laughs are the best. She’s been teaching me more about photographing little ones. I have no shame in being goofy to get some smiles! I also know how it feels to want to capture these fleeting moments when they grow so fast. This is why I do what I do and what inspires my work!
I have two of the most handsome kitty babes I know, Jake and Elwood. Yes! They’re named after the Blues Brothers. They love to sleep, eat, and help with everything especially craft projects.
Why yellow suitcases?
One time while thrifting, I was so drawn to a pair of beautiful, buttery yellow suitcases. They came home with me and a love for vintage suitcases grew. In a college design course, I had an assignment to come up with my own design company. The name yellow suitcase studio came up and it stuck! It became a part of me and things I create. To me the suitcases are representative of beautiful adventures, creating new memories, and preserving the past. These are my hopes for everything that I create.
